This weekend Fat Shark made a very special announcement and released a new digital HD FPV system. The Dominator is packed with premium features such as USB-C video output, HD DVR recording and an intuitive full-color graphical user interface. Support for Betaflight Canvas mode puts you in control of the on-screen display.
The Dominator is the new standard for premium FPV. While the Dominator HD goggles have a similar weight and dimensions to the Fatshark HDO2 goggles there is one huge difference: they do not support an analog FPV system. They are designed exclusively for the digital Dominator FPV system. The goggles only work with the Dominator HD VTX.
The FPV drone goggles feature high-fidelity full HD OLED displays and support a new 1080p video transmission protocol in a compact design. The adjustable IPD distance with 57 ~ 70 mm, adjustable focus range from +2 to at least -6 diopters allows the user to adjust the optics for each eye. Furthermore, 2 Full HD 1080p OLED dual microdisplays have been installed. The adjustable anti-fog ventilation provides further comfort when flying.
The first video showing the video quality of the Fatshark Dominator's new digital FPV system is by Joshua Bardwell.
Ever since the news about the new Dominator goggles came out, there has been speculation as to whether this could be a DJI or HDZero video receiver. In the interview with Greg French, he insists that this is "Fat Shark's new digital FPV system" and has nothing to do with DJI. However, if you look at the settings menu of the Fat Shark Dominator goggles, the options are almost identical to those of the DJI FPV goggles.
Either way, it's good to see a new option on the market and we can't wait to get our hands on it!
