FatShark has been developing its own digital FPV system for some time now. The new digital HD receiver SharkByte is a compact goggle-mounted module with integrated DVR and directional antenna. In our YouTube video, we explain what you need to convert your FPV system from analog to digital with SharkByte. We also compare SharkByte with a really good analog setup and of course DJI FPV.
The heart of the system is the receiver module. However, the OMNI antennas are not included. The module can be installed on almost all goggles with a mini-HDMI connection. You also need a VTX transmitter unit. There are 2 different sizes: the Digital FPV Whoop Board VTX TX5S.1 and the Digital FPV VTX TX5M.1.
Take a look at YouTube to see how the SharkByte from FatShark performs in digital FPV and for whom the SharkByte is perfect:
Our conclusion:
In terms of quality, the system was definitely able to convince us. However, if you already fly DJI FVP, the SharkByte is not for you - unless you have Tiny Whoops that you would like to convert to digital. But if you are flying analog and want to update and it is simply too expensive for you to convert your fleet to DJI, then SharkByte could be an alternative for you.
