Hello dear FPV community,
How many of you are also looking forward to warmer, sunny days?
We can finally get out and enjoy our hobby to the fullest again!
But before we all get our drones off the wall (or wherever you keep your drones), there are a few things that are essential to check - not least to ensure a smooth transition from one season to the next. In this blog post, we'll discuss the most important things to look out for before you start spring with your quads.
1.check the condition of the bolts
I know... it's obvious. But when was the last time you checked to see if the bolts are still really tight? Or if the bolts are there at all? Take a
screwdriver and make sure all the screws on your quad are tight, because drones are also in constant vibration during flight, and therefore the screws tend to loosen over time. It's recommended to check the screws before every flying day, but I can totally understand that sometimes you just forget.
2.check the condition of your drone:
Are the
motor bells bent? Is the camera lens scratched? What about the
antenna? Checking all parts of your drone from time to time can help you a lot with the quality of your flights and videos. Sometimes antennas break from the inside, motor bells bend and cameras get scratched.
check the cables too! After some time, the cables may have broken from the inside, so you can't really see any damage from the outside.
To check, simply take a pair of tweezers and pull the cables by the plugs. If they are a little too loose, check them again more carefully.
Maybe you also need an upgrade for your equipment? Take a look at what's new on the market!
3.are your FC and ESC clean?
I know... this may seem like a strange question, but there's a chance that a little dirt or a piece of grass could cause a short circuit on your
FC or ESC
just get into the habit of cleaning these parts from time to time to make sure they are in good working order. Simply clean your FC and ESC with a brush or a pair of tweezers.
4.do you have enough propellers?
Sometimes we collect the "slightly bent"
propellers for next time, but the new season definitely deserves some new propellers! See if there is
something new on the market that might interest you?
5.check the solder joints
Just to be sure - does everything look as it should? Maybe you had to quickly replace something along the way or need to do it now? If you've never soldered before but need to do it now - watch our
video on soldering here!
6.maybe you want to build something new?
There's no better time than now! If you've never built your own drone or built a drone yourself, be sure to check out our YouTube channel and the video on how to build a quad!
