The time has finally come. After a long wait, DJI has delivered an update that makes the new DJI Goggles 3 compatible with the DJI O3 Air Unit. Now it is possible to fly self-built FPV drones with O3 video transmitter with the latest DJI FPV goggles.
Until now, the DJI Goggles 3 and the DJI FPV Remote Control 3 were only compatible with the DJI Avata 2 (and a few other DJI drones). But not with self-built FPV drones. This is now changing.
This blog post refers to the following products:
The update with the version number V01 .03.0000 has been available since 25.07.24. This is required to ensure compatibility with the Goggles 3 and the FPV remote control 3.
The update can be carried out in the usual way. Alternatively, installation via computer and DJI Assistant 2 software is also possible.
The firmware update V01.00.0300 of the DJI Goggles 3 enables the FPV video goggles to be connected to the DJI O3 Air Unit.
The update can be installed via USB OTG cable (included with the Goggles 3) and installed DJI Fly App on the smartphone.
Fortunately, the new DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 is also made compatible with the O3 Air Unit. To do this, the update V01 .00.0200 must be installed.
The update is carried out immediately after pairing via the Goggles 3.
This finally gives you the opportunity to fly FPV drones without a separate receiver. Namely directly via the DJI O3 Air Unit.
After the update, all products should be restarted once. If an update is interrupted, it is also recommended to restart all products and the software (be it the DJI Assistant 2 or the DJI Fly App) once.
Details on the updates can be found in the official DJI forum post.
A side note: The DJI RC Motion 3 cannot be used with the O3 Air Unit.
We think that the update was long overdue. It was practically requested by the FPV community from second one after the release of the DJI Goggles 3. We are all the more pleased that the time has finally come. This allows not only FPV pilots who have been in the hobby for some time to fly with the latest technology. All DJI Avata 2 pilots finally have the opportunity to upgrade to classic FPV drones without having to change their entire equipment. With the O3 Air Unit, DJI still offers the best quality solution for HD FPV.
